THE TABERNACLE

OUTLINE

  1. The law of God:
    1. Being a portrait of what God is.
    2. Exposing the true condition of man so that man would be afraid to draw near to God.
  2. The tabernacle:
    1. Typifying Christ:
      1. As God’s concrete expression in humanity.
      2. As God’s dwelling place in humanity.
      3. As the means by which man contacts God and thereby receives and enjoys God.
      4. It being made of wood overlaid with gold.
      5. It being divided into two sections—the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies.
      6. Its covering.
      7. Its two veils:
        1. The outer screen.
        2. The inner veil.
      8. Its hangings.
    2. Typifying the church:
      1. With the believers as the standing boards:
        1. Having both divinity and humanity in Christ.
        2. Being built together by being joined in divinity.
      2. Being built together as God’s habitation.
    3. It being also called the tent of meeting.
