THE LIGHT, THE TREE OF LIFE,
AND THE TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE
OF GOOD AND EVIL

OUTLINE

1. The light:
   1. Typifying Christ as the light of the universe.
   2. Christ as the source of all lights.
   3. Christ as the light of the world.
   4. Christ as the light of life.
2. The tree of life:
   1. Typifying Christ as the embodiment of God, who is the source of life.
   2. Christ being the life and also the vine tree; these two combined equaling the tree of life:
      1. To be life to the believers in the church today.
      2. To be the enjoyment of life in the Paradise of God to the overcomers in the kingdom in the future.
      3. Ultimately, to be the enjoyment of life to God’s redeemed in the New Jerusalem for eternity.
3. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil:
   1. Typifying Satan as the source of sin and evil:
      1. Knowledge, good, and evil of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil being in contrast to the life of the tree of life.
      2. Life being dependent upon God; knowledge, good, and evil being independent of God:
         1. Evil being independent of God as the source of life; since good is also independent of God as life, it is ranked with evil.
         2. Knowledge being independent of the life of God; hence, it being ranked also with good and evil.
   2. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil bringing in death, signifying that death comes out of Satan:
      1. Death coming from sin.
      2. Since Satan is the source of sin, he is also the source of death:
         1. Today this death damages man and causes man to die.
         2. Eventually, this death will become the second death of those who commit sins, that is, the eternal death of their whole being—spirit, soul, and body—in the lake of fire.
