LESSON SIXTEEN

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
THE NEW TESTAMENT
AND THE OLD TESTAMENT

OUTLINE

  1. The new testament and the old testament—the two covenants God made with man:
    1. The old testament—a covenant which was added and abolished:
      1. Ordained in the hand of Moses.
      2. Dedicated with the blood of bulls and goats.
      3. Based upon the law, which cannot give life, as its condition.
      4. Requiring man only to work, not to believe.
      5. Applying only to the Old Testament age.
    2. The new testament—a covenant which is better and eternal:
      1. Accomplished by Jesus Christ.
      2. Established with the blood of Jesus, the Son of God.
      3. Based upon grace, which gives life, as its condition.
      4. Requiring man only to believe, not to work.
      5. Applying to the New Testament age and eternity.

      1. The Law.
      2. The historical books.
