Scripture Reading: Rom. 12:1a; Rev. 2:4, 12-15, 24, 20; 3:1-2, 15-16, 17-20; 2:7, 11, 17, 26-29; 3:5-6, 12-13, 21-22; Rom. 12:1-2, 11; Rev. 14:1-5; 21:1-2

OUTLINE

  1. The cause:
    1. The compassions of God-Rom. 12:1a.
    2. The degradation of the church:
      1. The church in general:
        1. Having left her first love for the Lord-Rev. 2:4.
        2. Having married herself to the world and become satanic, full of the hierarchical teaching-Rev. 2:12-15.
      2. The Catholic Church:
        1. Having become demonic-Rev. 2:24.
        2. Full of fornication and idolatry-Rev. 2:20.
      3. The Protestant churches:
        1. Having been deadened and being dying-Rev. 3:1-2a.
        2. Not complete in anything-Rev. 3:2b.
      4. The Brethren:
        1. Lukewarm, spewed out of the Lord’s mouth-Rev. 3:15-16.
        2. Self-contented, yet wretched, miserable, poor, blind, naked, and Christless-Rev. 3:17-20.
    3. The calling of the Lord in the age of the overcomers-Rev. 2:7, 11, 17, 26-29; 3:5-6, 12-13, 21-22.
  2. The purpose:
    1. To respond to the Lord’s calling.
    2. For the Lord’s recovery in this age (pay attention to the seven crucial points of the major items of the Lord’s recovery today).
    3. For the building up of the Body of Christ through the proper practice of the local churches:
      1. On the local ground in the oneness of the unique Body of Christ.
      2. By:
        1. Saving sinners to be the members of Christ.
        2. Feeding the newborn members.
        3. Perfecting the saints.
        4. Prophesying to build up the local churches for the consummation of the building up of the Body of Christ.
  3. The way:
    1. To be stirred up in the first love for the Lord through repenting prayers.
    2. To make a thorough confession to the Lord.
    3. To have close, intimate, and thorough fellowship with the Lord and with the seeking saints.
    4. To reconsecrate yourself to the Lord:
      1. In presenting your body as a living sacrifice to the Lord-Rom. 12:1.
      2. In being transformed by the renewing of the mind from being fashioned according to this age-Rom. 12:2.
      3. In not being slothful in zeal, but burning in spirit to serve the Lord-Rom. 12:11.
    5. To be the overcomers in the church life:
      1. In the age of the overcomers according to the Lord’s calling.
      2. As today’s Zion in today’s Jerusalem (the church life)-Rev. 14:1-5:
        1. The high peak, the center, the uplifting, the strengthening, the enriching, and the reality of the church, the holy city.
        2. To consummate the holy city (the church) and to bring in the consummated New Jerusalem in eternity-Rev. 21:1-2.
