CHAPTER TWO

THE LAW OF THE SPIRIT OF LIFE FREEING US FROM THE LAW OF SIN AND OF DEATH

Scripture Reading: Rom. 8:2-13

1. The law of the Spirit of life having freed us-v. 2a:
   1. Life-the eternal life of God.
   2. The Spirit-the resurrected Christ who was transfigured as the Spirit.
   3. Law-the natural capacity, which is the person of the pneumatic Christ Himself as the embodiment of the processed Triune God.
   4. Freeing us-causing us to be released from bondage and to have freedom.
2. The law of sin and of death-v. 2b:
   1. Sin-the sin in the sinful nature, which is the evil nature of Satan, causing us to have the ability to sin.
   2. Death-coming from sin, causing us to have no ability to do good.
   3. Law-the natural sinning capacity in the sinful nature, which is the person of Satan himself as evil itself.
3. The processed Triune God making the three parts of our being life:
   1. The Spirit of Christ being the pneumatic Christ entering into our spirit and making our spirit life-vv. 9-10.
   2. The Spirit and our spirit mingled as one spirit, spreading into our mind to make our mind life-v. 6b.
   3. The resurrecting and indwelling Spirit of God reaching our body, making our body life also-v. 11.
4. The cooperation we should render:
   1. Setting our mind on the spirit-v. 6b.
   2. Walking according to the spirit only-v. 4b.
   3. Putting to death the practices of the body by the Spirit-v. 13.
