CHAPTER TEN

IN THE BUILDING UP OF THE CHURCH

OUTLINE

1. In Christ:
1. Christ will build up His church—Matt. 16:18.
2. He gave some apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some shepherds and teachers for the perfecting of the saints unto the building up of the Body of Christ—Eph. 4:11-12.
3. His believers grow up in all things into Him, the Head; out from Him all the Body grows unto the building up of itself—Eph. 4:15-16.
2. By God:
1. Out from the Head all the Body grows with the growth of God—Col. 2:19.
2. God has placed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers; then works of power, then gifts of healing, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues—1 Cor. 12:28.
3. God has placed the members, each one of them, in the Body, even as He willed—1 Cor. 12:18.
4. God has apportioned to each a measure of faith—Rom. 12:3.
5. God has blended the Body together—1 Cor. 12:24.
6. The same God operates all things in all—1 Cor. 12:6.
7. God is among you (the church)—1 Cor. 14:25.
