CHAPTER THREE

THE DIVINE POWER OF GOD AND THE PRECIOUS PROMISES OF THE LORD

OUTLINE

  1. The divine power of God-2 Pet. 1:3:
    1. Through our knowing the One who has called us through His own glory and virtue.
    2. Having given to us all things which relate to life and godliness:
      1. Life being the inward divine supply-with God as life.
      2. Godliness being the outward divine expression-God lived out.
  2. The precious promises of the Lord-2 Pet. 1:4:
    1. Through His glory and virtue.
    2. The Lord having granted to us precious and exceedingly great promises.
    3. That we having escaped the corruption which is in the world by lust.
    4. That through these promises we might become partakers of the divine nature.
  3. Our diligent cooperation-2 Pet. 1:5-11:
    1. Upon the seed of the like precious faith allotted to us, through six steps, developing to the love which is God-2 Pet. 1:1, 5-7.
    2. Constituting us neither idle nor unfruitful-2 Pet. 1:8.
    3. Making our calling and selection firm-2 Pet. 1:10.
    4. Being richly and bountifully supplied to enter into the eternal kingdom of the Lord-2 Pet. 1:11.
