Subject Two Hundred Nine

THE PLEASURES OF THE NEW JERUSALEM

Scripture: Rev. 21:10; 22:5; 7:15-17

  1. The New Jerusalem is a shining city (Rev. 21:21, 18; 4:3)
    1. The street is pure gold signifying God’s divine nature.
    2. The gates are pearls signifying our entrance into the city through Christ’s redemption.
    3. The wall is jasper signifying the riches of the divine life in the believers.
  2. The New Jerusalem is God’s dwelling place
    1. There is the throne of God and of the Lamb (Rev. 22:1).
    2. There is the glory of God shining through the Lord Jesus as the lamp (Rev. 21:23).
  3. The New Jerusalem is full of the enjoyment of the blessing of life
    1. There is the tree of life (Rev. 22:2).
    2. There is the water of life (Rev. 22:1).
  4. The New Jerusalem is where God’s eternal care is manifested
    1. God’s light will shine over it.
    2. Christ will be shepherding there.
  5. In the New Jerusalem there is no more hunger, thirst, tears, darkness, or suffering
    1. There will be no hunger or thirst (Rev. 7:16).
    2. There will be no darkness (Rev. 22:5).
    3. There will be no tears (Rev. 21:4).
    4. There will be no suffering (Rev. 21:4).
  6. How to enter into the New Jerusalem
    1. Repent and believe in the Lord Jesus.
    2. Through believing, your name will be written in the Lamb’s book of life. Only those whose names are written in the book of life can enter into the New Jerusalem (Rev. 21:27).
