GOD IS LIGHT AND GOD IS LOVE

Scripture: 1 John 1:5; 4:8

1. God is light
   1. Light is a matter of nature.
   2. Light has the function of shining.
   3. God as light denotes the function of that nature of God which is shining.
   4. Once man touches God, he receives light. He is no more in darkness.
2. God is love
   1. Love is a matter of sentiment.
   2. Love has the function of imparting warmth.
   3. God as love denotes the function of the sentiment of God which imparts warmth.
   4. Once man touches God, he receives warmth and departs from coldness.
3. How God is expressed as light and love
   1. He shows forth His light in His Son Jesus.
   2. He shows forth His love through the cross.
   3. God caused His Son to accomplish redemption through the cross to become man’s Savior, that man may obtain Him as light and love.
4. How to obtain God as light and love
   1. Confess that you are in darkness and in coldness.
   2. Receive the Son of God, Jesus Christ, as your Savior.
   3. Have fellowship with God through Christ.
