FOR WHAT DID CHRIST DIE?

Scripture: 1 Cor. 15:3-4

1. Presumptions of the people regarding Christ’s death
   1. The Jews said that He died because He was sentenced to death by the Roman officials.
   2. The Gentiles throughout the ages said that He sacrificed Himself for a cause.
2. Christ’s own explanation
   1. He willingly gave His own life, to die (John 10:11, 18).
   2. He died to redeem men from their sins (Matt. 26:28).
3. The Bible’s explanation
   1. God predestined Him to die.
   2. He was destined to die for the sins of man.
4. The witness of the saints
   1. They confessed that Christ died for their sins, thus receiving the peace of being forgiven.
   2. This confession resulted in a change in that they no longer lived a life of sin.
