CHAPTER TWO

THE SECOND STEP OF GOD’S SALVATION IN LIFE-TRANSFORMATION

Scripture Reading: 2 Cor. 3:18; Rom. 12:2a

OUTLINE

  1. The definition of transformation:
    1. Not merely a perceptible change outwardly in behavior.
    2. Being a metabolic transformation inwardly in essence.
  2. The steps of transformation:
    1. Washing-the washing of regeneration-Titus 3:5b.
    2. Sanctification-the sanctification of the Holy Spirit-Rom. 6:19, 22; 15:16.
    3. Renewing-the renewing of the Holy Spirit-Titus 3:5b:
      1. Beginning from our mind-Rom. 12:2a.
      2. Through our spirit, which is mingled with the Spirit-Eph. 4:23; Rom. 8:6b.
      3. Reaching all the inward parts of our being.
    4. A metabolic process-transformation-Rom. 12:2a.
    5. Not accomplished in an instant.
    6. But achieved throughout our entire life-2 Cor. 4:16-17.
  3. The way of transformation:
    1. By fellowshipping with the Lord without any barrier-with unveiled face beholding and reflecting like a mirror the glorious image of the Lord-3:18a.
    2. The advancing-from one degree of glory to another degree of glory-v. 18b.
    3. Being transformed into the same image of the Lord, even as from the Lord Spirit-v. 18c.
    4. By remaining in our spirit and exercising our spirit-2 Tim. 4:22; Phil. 4:23; Gal. 6:18.
  4. The issue of transformation:
    1. Growth and maturity in the divine life-Eph. 4:13b; Col. 1:28.
    2. Arriving at the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ-Eph. 4:13c.
  5. The purpose of transformation:
    1. The building up of the Body of Christ-v. 12.
    2. The accomplishing of God’s eternal economy-3:9.
  6. The ultimate transformation:
    1. The transfiguration of our body-Phil. 3:21.
    2. The glorification of our body-Rom. 8:30.
    3. The ultimate redemption-v. 23c; Eph. 1:14; 4:30.
    4. The full taste of the divine sonship-Rom. 8:23b.
