OUTLINE

  1. Some important items of the truth that have been misunderstood:
    1. The divine Trinity-Matt. 28:19:
      1. The Father, the Son, and the Spirit all being God-the only one God-Eph. 4:6; Heb. 1:8; Acts 5:3-4.
      2. The Father, the Son, and the Spirit coexisting simultaneously from eternity to eternity-Isa. 9:6; Heb. 1:12; 7:3; 9:14.
      3. The Father, the Son, and the Spirit coinhering and being inseparable-John 14:10-11; 5:43; 14:26; 15:26.
      4. The Son coming with the Father, the Father being with the Son, and the Son and the Father being one-John 6:46; 8:29; 10:30.
      5. The Son being incarnated through the Spirit’s conception and being filled with the Holy Spirit while living and moving in the flesh-Luke 1:35; Matt. 1:18, 20.
      6. All that the Father has being the Son’s and all that the Son possesses being received by the Spirit-John 16:14-15.
      7. The Son being called the Father and becoming the Spirit-Isa. 9:6; 1 Cor. 15:45; 2 Cor. 3:17.
    2. The God-man Jesus:
      1. Conceived of the Holy Spirit, thus having the divine element-Luke 1:35; Matt. 1:18, 20.
      2. Born of a virgin, thus having the human element-Matt. 1:21, 23.
      3. Born as God and man-a God-man-being the complete God (Rom. 9:5; Col. 2:9) and the perfect man (1 Tim. 2:5)-Isa. 9:6, the child being called the mighty God.
      4. Still being the Son of Man after His resurrection and ascension into heaven-Acts 7:56; Rev. 1:13.
      5. Still being the Son of Man in His second coming-Matt. 26:64; Rev. 14:14.
      6. Being the Son of Man forever in eternity-John 1:51.
    3. The mingling of God and man:
      1. In the Lord Jesus:
        1. Conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of the virgin Mary-the divine element mingling with the human element, without producing a third element-Matt. 1:18, 20-21, 23.
        2. The Son of God born as the Son of Man-the two becoming a God-man, without producing a third person.
      2. In the believers:
        1. Being born of God to become children of God-John 1:12-13-having the human element mingled with the divine element, without producing a third element.
        2. The branches of the wild olive tree being grafted into the cultivated olive tree-Rom. 11:24-the two not only becoming one tree, but the two lives also mingling together to produce a compound fruit, not a fruit of a third nature.
        3. The Lord being the bread of life for the believers to eat and the Holy Spirit being the living water for the believers to drink-John 6:48, 57; 7:37-39-the elements of what is eaten and drunk mingling and becoming one with the person who eats and drinks, thus becoming the element of the person who eats and drinks without producing a third element.
        4. The believers being joined to the Lord and becoming one spirit-1 Cor. 6:17-the mingling of the spirit of the believer and the Spirit of the Lord to become one spirit.
        5. The fine flour of the meal offering being mingled with oil to become the cake of the meal offering-Lev. 2:4-the mingling of two elements to become one substance without producing a third kind of element.
