3. Building with gold, silver, and precious stones—v. 12a:
1. Gold symbolizing God's nature.
2. Silver symbolizing Christ's redemptive work.
3. Precious stones symbolizing the Spirit's transforming work.
4. Building with wood, grass, and stubble—v. 12b:
1. Wood signifying human nature.
2. Grass signifying man in the flesh—Isa. 40:6-7.
3. Stubble signifying lifelessness.
5. Every man's work will be tested by fire—vv. 13-15:
1. If any man's work stands the fire, he will receive a reward.
2. If any man's work is consumed, he will suffer loss:
1. He himself will be saved.
2. Yet so as through fire.
