REGENERATION

OUTLINE

  1. The definition of regeneration—John 1:13.
  2. The way:
    1. To realize our need of the life of God—John 3:3.
    2. To realize that our natural being needs to be buried in the water of baptism—John 3:5.
    3. To be born of the Spirit of God in our spirit—John 3:5, 6b.
      1. By believing into the Son of God—John 3:36a.
      2. Through the Word of God in the gospel—1 Pet. 1:23; James 1:18; 1 Cor. 4:15.
  3. The issue:
    1. Resurrected with Christ—1 Pet. 1:3b; Eph. 2:5a.
    2. Having the eternal and uncreated life—1 John 1:2.
    3. Becoming a child of God—John 1:12.
    4. Partaking of the divine nature—2 Pet. 1:4.
    5. Born into the kingdom of God—John 3:5.

Focus: To be regenerated is to have the life of God that we may be His children living in His kingdom according to the divine nature.
